The Petzl BASIC Ascender is a compact rope clamp designed for fixed rope ascents and progress capture in hauling systems. Its toothed stainless steel cam with a self cleaning slot provides reliable grip in muddy or icy conditions, while the large lower attachment hole accepts two carabiners for a lanyard and foot loop. The BASIC weighs 85 g, works with 8 to 11 mm rope, and is certified to CE EN 567 and UIAA standards.
