The GIBBS Free Running Ascender is a lightweight rope grab designed for climbing ropes and pack hauling. Its aluminum shell and free running cast aluminum cam provide smooth movement while maintaining dependable grip, even on muddy or icy ropes. The ascender works with 7/16 inch and 1/2 inch rope, weighs 6.6 oz, and has a 2,550 lbf breaking strength. It is made in the USA and is not intended for litter raising, self belay, or supporting more than one person.

The #1 Ascender is intended for climbing ropes and pack hauling by mountain climbers and cavers. It is NOT intended for litter raising or the support of more than one person or for self belay. We recommend using a #2SS, #3, #4 or a #4SS for litter raising. It features an aluminum shell, free running cast aluminum cam and is intended for 7/16″ (11mm) and 1/2″ (13 mm) ropes. Made in the U.S.A.
